1/22/2024 0 Comments Porsche brake fluid change cost![]() ![]() I got an updated price thru from the OPC earlier, £584.70 for front pads only or £96168 for front discs & pads. The brakes on he other hand are a different matter as using a independent shouldn’t (?!) impact the warranty and i consider these a consumable, and in the dame way I wouldn’t pay a OPC for new tyres, the independent looks the right way to go. Rather its the negatory coast of the brake fluid change when it will have been done only weeks before (or will be done a few weeks after) when i have the work done on the brakes. It is what it is, and it’s necessary to maintain the extended warranty. Sure the the labour charges still make me laugh when you know the guy doing the work is getting paid a fraction of it and OPC’s aren’t offering the facilities that they argue justifies the costs, work areas, refreshments, courtesy cars etc in the current COVID world. Despite how it must have come across I don’t really have a problem with the the price of the service. According to Ninemeister, their 40k service is £595 plus brake fluid change at £84. If you have a base model they are sooooo much cheaper at £200. Looking at Design 911s website a set of genuine front S discs and pads will set you back £600 yet the Brembo set is only £370. If you're any good on the tools, it may be worth changing the discs and pads yourself before the wear sensor pings as it'll need resetting using the PIWIS and you'll have to go to a garage for that. Re brakes, I'd be seriously tempted to get prices from an indie but, as Dave has already alluded to, the costs may be not a million miles away. Something to be aware of as well is that they may offer you the extended warranty at service time (if you've not already taken it out) and 'should' waiver the inspection cost (£200?) if its taken out when the service is done as most of the items checked are also done on the service. ~£1000 for a major isn't that bad and don't forget that also includes changing the spark plugs and, again, a brake fluid change is needed every 2 years. Does anyone out there have a similar experience of removing the brake fluid change from the schedule or have any advise on the brakes re warranty and and opinions of having the work done OPC vs independent? Thanks in advance The dealer is hiding behind the fixed price schedule and very evasive about removing the fluid change A few questions. This means I've either just paid for it or will be paying for it again imminently. This includes a brake fluid change which I thought was independent of the service schedule? I know it needs doing but its a £150- £200 part of the service charge and is something I'll be doing either before or after the service depending on when the service light comes on. I've just had a quote for the service of £1050. I'm sure when I revisit they'll raise this again as it'll be on the cars history but I intend using an independent as this doesn't seem like complex job and I don't believe the brakes are a warranty item so shouldn't impact the extended Porsche warranty. I was quoted a what seemed like a crazy £1400 top remediate and to make sure they checked the car again soon. ![]() I was told front pads were approx 60% worn and there was start of a lip on the front discs (that may result in squealing, which hasn't appeared yet!). When when I had my MOT a few months ago the OPC managed to make me paranoid about my brakes although both discs & pads seem to have plenty of material and are stopping the car perfectly! (as a footnote I have put miles on the car & love the country lanes but the vast majority of my daily driving is a 6 mile run on dual carriageway so I'm generally not driving and applying the brakes harshly). 24 months have passed and I'm starting to get mails for the OPC that a service ' may be due' so I'm expecting to book in in the next few months. I put a fair few miles on in the 1st 18 months and had the 2 year (20k?) service pretty early. Hi all, I'm getting to the point where I'm looking at quotes for the 2nd service on my 718. ![]()
